is based upon the belief that Scripture will interpret Scripture when personal bias is left out of the deduction. Whether symbolic, spiritual, literal or whatever the interpretative method, Scripture will not contradict when "rightly dividing the word of truth."

Dividing the Concubine

Homosexuality Added:
Feb-15-04
Question: Can you tell me what the Bible says about Homosexuality? Isn't any sin just as bad? Answer: The argument most of the time is, when considering any particular sin, that nobody's perfect. This is true. We are an imperfect people trying to serve a perfect and righteous God. We all make mistakes and we all sin (I John 1:7-10). However, there are certain standards found in Scripture by which we know what pleases God and what does not please God (I John 2:1-6). Today's humanists stress a relative truth in that what an individual chooses as truth is truth for that person. Common sense tells us that that type of mentality is bogus mentality. There must be a standard. God has a great standard which benefits mankind and brings peace of mind and fulfillment in life. It addition, it ushers eternal life.

Some people struggle with alcoholism, some struggle with other forms of drug addiction (nicotine included). The struggle may be foul language, anger, illicit sex, cigarettes or a myriad of other things. Making these things legal or politically correct still poses a problem. They remain hurtful and destructive. Only when we can become free from these vices can we be truly happy, healthy and fulfilled. True freedom from these things can only come through Christ Jesus (John 8:36). Instead of giving excuses for our imperfections and sin, we just need to come clean with self and with God (I John 1:8), letting Him finish the clean-up (Romans 10:9-10). Homosexuality (as well as the things mentioned above) is pleasurable for many. The issue is not pleasure or political correctness. The issue is whether such things are right and just.

Homosexuality is the most prominent issue of the day simply because of the out-cry of those who wish to make it an acceptable lifestyle. It may become acceptable to many, but to God and the standard He has set, it is an abomination. That makes it wrong: "If a man also lie with mankind (another male or animal), as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination:... (Leviticus 20:13). An abomination is something "disgusting, abhorrent." (For personal check up see Proverbs 6:16...) Homosexuality is, of course, the sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons of one's own sex. This includes lesbianism. Leave God out of the equation and it still doesn't make sense because homosexuality goes directly against nature in that two men cannot procreate and produce another human. Neither can two women produce another human. Nature reveals that reproduction is designed for male and female relationships regarding sexual encounters. It's not hard to figure out, it's all about sexual desire.

Homosexuality made plain in Scripture: "For this cause God gave them up ujnto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature (lesbians): And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly (homosexuality), and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which is meet (Romans 1:26-27). God has given them over to a reprobate mind: "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient (becoming, fit):.... (Romans 1:28).

We should not hate such people, but love them with the love of the Lord: love the sinner - despise the sin. Remember our own imperfections, keep humility in our confrontations, and consider their souls. We should pray for such individuals that God will help them to be overcomers and to bring "the lusts of the flesh" into subjection to the will of God. Paul said in I Corinthians 9:27:"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway (reject, reprobate).

Not long ago I saw an interview of a man in his 60's who had lived as a practicing homosexual for most of his life. He had finally changed with God's help, but greatly regretted his life-style. One of the main reasons was that he had no descendants. He had no children, and now because of his age, no family at all. Going against the nature God had provided him cost him his lineage. Yes, homosexuality is unnatural. Not only does it kill through disease, it destroys entire lineages.

The issue of homosexuality (including "gay" marriages) is supported by some state governments, large corporations, senators, presidential candidates and clergymen. This is a sad testimony to today's sentiment toward God. The fact is, all the governments, all the rulers and every individual on Earth could ban together to make homosexuality politically correct and morally correct, but it would still be an abomination to God and to the set standard for the procreation and advancement of mankind. We must pray for our nation for we are becoming more and more each day like Sodom and Gomorrah of old.
